Title: Limebarb can suck my di*k (Click For Full Entry) Type: Public LiveJournal critique. Date Started: 2005-03-11 00:10:00 |
|
"Too bad (none) of the costumes is mine, which she still hasn't e-mailed me back on, f*cking c*nt. NO sign of my name on the Updates either." "I rather just have my $45 back, hell I'll probably resell the coat if I actually get it." -lostdecoy "I still haven't gotten my costume...I ordered it about a year and a half ago. Was supposed to be ready for Katsucon 2004." "She has been ignoring my e-mails...last I heard form her was in like July or something. She gave me half a refund on the jacket, but she still has $45 of my money and I have nothing to show for it." "But yea, of course their costumes look better than the customers...unfortunatly it works that way =/" -lostdecoy "...her personal stuff is good, but i heard her commisions are a*s cr*p. does Kyle (cosplay.com admin) still allow her to advertise on the site?" -digitalcactus "as far as i know her advr. was pulled after the complaints started coming in, i just wish her whole site would be pulled. and her commisioned stuff is cr*p, i got a costume from her 2 years ago when she like first started and it's not as good as what she makes for herself" -yuffiebunny "Yea, I remember when they were advertisers and people complained about Limebarb on the forums...they deleted the threads, then banned the members who were posting in said threads. THen Limebarbs little gang started harassing and threatening them"...." "It's such bullsh*t, I swear." -lostdecoy "She pretty much is an advertiser/sponsor of many sites and they close/delete threads and ban members who bad mouth her! (this has happened at cosplay.com, Acen forums, etc. etc.) She also has a large clan of people who harasses those who speak up against her..." "It's rediculous that they hide this and we get f*cked. She wasn't as behind as she is now when I originally ordered and all I heard were good things...and now there is A LOT of bad to say her, but no where to speak of it because "badmouthing comissioners is bad" regardless of them deserving it." -lostdecoy |

Title: Limebarb Is A Ripoff - Don't Support Her Cr*p (Click For Full Entry) Type: Public LiveJournal critique. Date Started: 2003-01-30 19:44:00 |

"as well, the neck on my sailor top is HUGE... at least 3 times as large as necklines in the garments pictured... if i wear it i have to be really careful bending over. it gapes a lot. also, with the loose socks... when i ordered them, they were listed as WHITE, and when i got them they were clearly offwhite (cream, ecru, whatever.) "...as well as producing an unsatisfactory garment, she also took her SWEET SWEET time (a little over 2 months) delivering, and never bothered to email me to let me know that it was going to take extra time, or notify me that my money order arrived. only after several emails (which got gradually more impatient as time went on)did she respond." "...her products are unsatisfactory and her service is subpar..." -hagiology She did that to mine too! Mine only had one pucker, but the hem was uneven.. now I have to pay to have the stupid thing tailored when I could of sewn a suitably crappy one on my own. Mine was purchased as a Christmas present, and was ordered on December 16th... only to arrive last week. He asked her about express shipping, but she never got back to him on the prices! It seems that all she cares about is sewing costumes for her and her boytoy, screwing customers in the process. Horrendous!" -kouhotaru "...limebarb does sub-standard seamstressing and doesn't use particularly high quality fabric. so, her dresses aren't worth anywhere near that much." -hagiology "I don't think i saw any puckers on my sera-fuku, but the arms are WAY too long, the skirt is too long, and the neck is f'n huge! I think after reading this, i'm going to take a closer look at mine, and then proceed to ask for my money back if i find any "puckers" -awakenthesadist "If you were that busy... so busy that you couldn't take the time to make a quality garment for someone who was paying you, you should have refused the orders... furthermore, you have the ability to update your site, and you should notify your customers if situations like that arrive. it's your responsability as a retailer. customers shouldn't have to resort to emailing you about their orders taking a long time, if there's a delay, you should notify them! and somehow i fail to se the corelation between your parents visititing, finals happening etc and you accepting money for a product which has visible sewing errors. don't you feel the least bit guilty about ripping people off? if you don't, you have no business selling things to people." "$7.99 a yard for fabric is dirt cheap, especially if it's a stretch poplin. furthermore, the top you made for me would probably take about 1.5 metres to make, probably less. which blows your whole theory of making things at the cost of fabric plus a little for your effort out of the water. that's nearly a 50% markup." "it's obvious to all of us that your not qualified to do seamstressing." -hagiology |

Title: Limebarb Refund After 18 Months Type: Update Via Email Submission. Date: 05/01/05 |

Title: Complaints.com Report For Limebarb.com (Click For Full Complaint) Type: Public complaint on consumer protection site. |
|
"She was not contacting her customers to notify them of any problems. Attempts to contact her by phone, email and mail were ignored. She only gave some people refunds, and only for half of the amount paid even if no work had been done." "Several customers have been waiting over 16 months for their costumes, and have been unable to contact Ms. Staples who has only been giving vague updates through her website." "Despite her missing many deadlines, she continued to take multiple orders into late 2004, and was found to be making costumes for herself and her friends, as recent as December 2004, while paid contracts were ignored." "To date she hasn’t given a reasonable explanation for her poor service and questionable behavior, opting instead to have her network of friends intimidate and undermine public statements of the horrible service that Limebarb.com offers." -Alcione |

Title: Barbara Staples, Limebarb, Barb Took my money for a commissioned cosplay costume then ignored me for eight months (Click For Full Complaint) Type: Public complaint on Bad Business Bureau site. Date Posted: 5/9/2005 12:31:52 PM |
|
"But in March, 2005, I had not received a costume, a refund, an apology, or even a satisfactory explanation. From October, 2004 through March, Barbara Staples and her partner, Julia Crens, were attending cosplay conventions and making costumes for themselves. I had sent numerous e-mails and made phone calls. None of my phone calls were returned, and most of my e-mails were ignored. The three e-mails I received, months apart, said she was "shipping next week." "Barbara Staples and Julia Crens are scamming innocent consumers. To take money and not deliver product after eight months is fraud, pure and simple." "PayPal was no help to me. Only after I contacted the State Attorney General did "Slimey Limey" hastily issue me a refund. I never did get an apology or explanation." Lois Washington, Illinois U.S.A. |

Title: Barb Is A Horrible Person Type: Email Submission - User Wishes To Remain Anonymous Date: 08/19/05 |
|
"At the Anime Central convention in Chicago, I spent much time in costume with friends around the sculpture in the front of the hotel. I know Barb through friends. During the few times that Barb appeared in public she had a very nasty attitude with everyone. She seemed cross with her best friend Jia. She refused to talk to us and other CCC (Chicagoland Cosplay Club) members. She promised to show up at the CCC costume booth but no-showed. I witnessed one of my friends talking with Stripper Vash, and Barb grabbed Stripper Vash in the middle of the converstation and pulled him away in a huff. My friend --Name Removed-- said she did the same thing to her, and gave her a dirty look as she did it. I witnessed several times when Barb intentionally walked away from photo requests. She constantly rolled her eyes or muttered rudely under her breath at people taking her photos. When --Name Removed-- was having pictures of her --Removed-- costume taken, I overheard Barb mutter something. I later confirmed with other people that Barb called her a sl*t probably because she was jealous. I made it a point to watch Barb closely to see what else she would do. When RenegadePocky (a mom) and Milkchan (a toddler) were having her photos taken, Barb muttered something under her breath and made a disgusted face. Worst of all, myself and at least five other people witnessed Barb yelling at a small girl who was probably only 10 years old, who wanted a photo of her outfit. Barb is a horrible person who should be disgusted with herself. I've never met anyone who was so overtly rude and inconsiderate, and it also looks like she is a criminal and her business is a fraud."
"She should be banned from the CCC and Anime Central for her miserable behavior. She hurts the cosplay community by mistreating people and stealing from them..." |

Title: Limebarb - Poor Contact & Tardy (Click For Full Thread) Type: Public Thread on Cosplay.com (revised 03-23-06) |
|
"I had poor contact throughout the experience. I had sent numerous emails during the period of comissioning. When the month came before the convention I had wanted it for, I received a response a few days after the beginning of the month It wasn't even from Limebarb either! It was from a helper, who was apologizing for her in the email." "When I received said comission on the DAY of the convention, I was sorely pissed, and became even more upset when my dad said I should check out the sailor collar because there were some small stains on them (luckily not noticeable in photo's)."

"I definitely say stay away from Limebarb. After reading the link someone posted here earlier it sounds like many many people have had issues with her that completely mirror my own. Plain and simple, she doesn't meet deadlines, ignores emails and phone calls and tries to blame the customer when their deadlines aren't met. All these things happened to me and, judging from the link, to many other people as well. The quality of the product was not bad, but it certainly wasn't perfect and hardly worth the trouble she caused to get it, nor the price she charged." -deleriumx Posted: 03-15-2006, 11:20 AM (click for post) |
