Excerpts From Source:

"There's a lot of chatter about limebarb not filling orders."
"On a personal note, I comissioned her for a small order and had great luck. So I took the plunge and placed a larger order. That was in December of *2003*. She hasn't answered my email since August 2004. And I’m not the only one in this boat." - animeMom (01-21-2005 10:42 PM) - CLICK FOR 05/01/05 UPDATE -

"They had enough time to make all these VERY elaborate costumes for themselves and their little boyfriends, but my costume for Anime Reactor (which I paid for with 6 1/2 month advance notice) apparently wasn't as important."
"After I found her phone number, my parents demanded a refund. I got a partial refund and parts of my costume."
"Actually I got a bag of cheap fabric inappropriate for my costume. Some buckles (too small and with a BRASS finish instead of chrome). A $15 wig that had a lot of someone's REAL HAIR in it. Was it USED?!" - ActiveBattleSystem (01-28-2005 12:17 PM)

"I'm bouncing around on Limebarbs site, and the attention to detail Sucks... what with the CAPITAL S and such."
"Sora's costume.... The Belts the wrong color, all thw hardware is gold, not chrome...."
"Squalls Seed uniform is too short, and the belt is the wrong style (only has one hole, supposed to have two)" - SocietyzAntidote (02-06-2005 08:20 PM)

"Paid 5 months b4 event. They PROMISED it'd done 1 month b4 event. Many of my emails went ignored, asking about status. 4 months AFTER my event, I got a partial refund and a worthless bag of partially cut-out fabric and a $12 wig!! RIP OFF!!"

"I was one of the few people who got their costume on time. Now, I found out Barb's wearing a duplicate of the costume I bought TO THE SAME CONVENTION. That's so mean!! Thumbs DOWN!"

Items: Custom Costume
"paid in Jan. of 2005 for a costume for Sept. 2005. I never got costume, and a PARTIAL REFUND, AFTER the con. She said she was too busy. She was too busy MAKING COSTUMES FOR HERSELF, instead of finishing customers costumes!"
Review by: Beverly Leigh

Items: Vest & Naruto Jacket
"They messed up first order, working on it for 1 year. I barely got it in time. Asked to have it fixed. Missed my second deadline after another year. No refund and they wrote me a nasty letter saying it was my fault they couldn't complete my costume. AWFUL"
Review by: NiceGuy

Items: Tsukasa Costume
"I paid $320 for a costume and I don't have money to throw away. It's been 11 months and I haven't received one reply from her e-mails. I WILL be filing a lawsuit if she doesn't respond to my letter."
Review by: Emeryl

Items: Sherice Adjani from s-CRY-ed (Quoted)
I requested a quote for a custom dress uniform. Other quotes were $200-$300. Limebarb quoted $550. When asked why so much, it took them over a week to respond. They scolded me and accused me of being ignorant. Very unprofessional.

Title: I am so F*cking SICK of Limebarb! (Click For Full Entry)
Type: Public LiveJournal critique.
Date Started: 2005-01-29 15:52:00
Excerpts From Source:

"I ordered these stupid Fudomine jacket over a year ago, at this point I don't even want it."
"It was supposed to be ready last Katsu, wasn't as she fell behind with all her orders. Kind of funny she had time to work on her Berserkers and all..."
"SO I keep waiting, she gives me half a refund of what I paid sans shipping, $45 of $90 for the product. I was like "meh okay..."
"I e-mailed her on Jan 11th asking about my jacket. Told her at this point I don't want it anymore, I would be happy to take the other half of my refund if the jacket wasn't started, which would help reduce her workload and call our transaction done since she could not meet with my original deadline we set over a year ago in Nov 2003, which was Katsu 2004."
"No response. I am really getting tired of this cr*p though..."
- lostdecoy

"I ordered from them a long time ago and have had no problems, but I've been hearing complaints lately. I'm very unimpressed with what they've done to you, and I'd take it as far as possible to get your refund back, or at least a valid RESPONSE."
- elrohiir

"I wish I coud find out who they are and contact them...but she took down her "wait list" pages like she used to have in the past with statuses of each costume...which kept getting bigger and bigger. I bet peoples costumes who were shipped in December were ordered after mine, or just the majority of those orders were "store" items."
- lostdecoy

"That is what is pissing me off, it really is self centered and rude, it's basically telling your customers "F*ck you". I would never recommmend nor use her again."
"I wouldn't be surprised if that money has gone into her pseronal account, as I have nothing to show for it. I request a full refund, and hear nothing...go figure..."
"F*ck large scale comissioners such as this -_-"

Excerpts From Source:

"for me the reply was bout a week and 1/2 i suggest you don't get a commission from them if you need it for a con in the future unless it's a con thats quite some times away, i made that mistake and now i dont have my costume for the con im attending this weekend." - DayDreamerNessa (05-27-2004, 03:12 PM)

"Yeah, limebarb is uber slow with replying to emails and getting stuff out to you on time. Obviously, they've got tons of commisions, so although it's a bitch, you have to expect that."
"But they make very nice quality clothing/costumes, so I highly recommend!"
"Just make sure you order stuff at least 6 months in advance of when you need it!!! because even if they say they can have it to you in like, say 2 months, they won't." - fushigi-chan (05-28-2004, 09:52 PM)

";_; i ordered some small stuff in dem. (leggwarmers) so yea their a little slow, still haven't gotten it, they get alot of orders, maybe you should try a different person, I don't know, so yea if you order from them, just know that it will be some time before you get it" - Amantalathiel (05-29-2004, 05:30 PM)

">.< I dont know how many people on cosplay got to limebarb...but I have been having loads of problems...It has been a YEAR since I requested a costume. At one point I asked her about it and she said she would have it done in a week...but did I get it NO! Now I feel that I have been jipped out of my money because I have yet to hear or see my costume." - Fantasy Chick (02-26-2005, 11:53 PM)

"For those of you who don't know, Barbara Staples is a seamstress with a website called www.limebarb.com. She makes commissioned anime costumes."
"In August, I sent her $250 through PayPal to make me a Harley Quinn costume. It was to be here by Halloween. Not only has my costume not arrived, she is ignoring my e-mails as to where is my costume and what is going on? I fear I may have been ripped off." - LOTUSNEKO

Title: Limebarb Missed Our Deadline
Type: Email Submission
Date Posted: Wednesday, June 14, 2006 2:52 PM
I regret not looking for reviews before ordering from Limebarb. Had I known she had such a horrible reputation, I would have ordered from a better business, and not these thieves. My problem is just like the one posted on the Bad Business Bureau where she intentionally missed my deadline in order to complete her own personal projects, two awful costumes supposedly inspired by artist Junko Muzuno. They looked like cheap truck stop wh*res in their terrible costumes. It sounds like Junko Mizuno was not happy, and was offended by Limebarb and Jia Crens' butchering her work to try and get some attention. Limebarb has offended a guest who may never come back to Anime Central. I am demanding a FULL refund, but who knows if I'll ever get it. With such bad customer service and poor quality, how they stay in business is a complete mystery." - L.N. (Chicago, IL)

Excerpts From Source:

"One such lousy business, known for stealing their customers' time and money and cr*pping out poor products, is Limebarb Cosplay. There have been literal dozens of bad reviews from customers who have been cheated or harrassed by former and current Limebarb Cosplay employees Barbara Staples, Julia Crens, Ryan Williams (a.k.a., The Douchebag), and Zach Naggatz (a.k.a., Stripper Vash). I have personally been cheated out of about $200 by them, which was owed for hotel stay at Anime Central 2003." - orochiyamazaki

"Barb herself is nice. Never really had personal encounters with any of em, really. But I do not approve of doing sub-par work if you are a commissioner. If you chose to make cosplay your job, just like any other job, you only have a few strikes before you are out. If you really believe that you are not able to handle the work load, or maintain good quality, you should not be doing it." - touga

"Her seams are horrible. She's always taking shortcuts and using inappropriate fabric or accessories. Often times there are stains on her costumes. And she's always missing deadlines, or simply not delivering."
"I used to support her, as well. My roomate and I offered to help her, and we helped her at Acen '03. But we had to separate ourselves from her, once she started missing deadlines and dissing customers. Once we found out that most of the deadlines were missed because she was too busy finishing up personal cosplay projects for herself, and her friends, that put her on my bad side. After all the repeat episodes, and then finding out she had filthy breakup sex with Ryan while wearing a customer's costume (who was a friend of mine), I've since started to dislike her as a human being."
"Every few weeks, I hear more stories that support that she's not even a very nice person. Everyone knows about her yelling at a girl who wanted a photo of her Princess Peach costume. Lots of people at Acen saw her making catty comments about a mother and baby who were getting their photos taken. She often blames her customers for her missing deadlines." - orochiyamazaki

"I have never heard anything good coming from people that did business with her and the only things I've heard in her defense is that she's 1.) has a life and is busy, 2.) computer problems, 3.) is sick. :/" - siith

"...I can understand a missed deadline here and there, due to health problems. But she's going way overboard with missed deadlines. I'm also personally aware for several times she claimed being sick, when she wasn't. I also know for a fact she fakes internet outages and computer problems to avoid customers." - orochiyamazaki

"...she did disappoint me more when she did an international commission - from the Philippines and did not deliver. The kid paid like $100+ dollars plus shipping for a Sakura from Naruto and didnt get anything. PLUS, the exchange rate of peso to dollars is $1=PHP52 at least. imagine how long that kid saved for that costume and imagine the disappointment when she didnt get anything for her money."
"She thought having a limebarb costume is really something to be proud of especially in the Philippines. >.> but I guess now she wouldnt have anything to show for it." - insane_desire

"She has a bad repertoire, when it comes to children. I know of one younger girl in Florida who was devastated that Barb wasn't going to have her costume done for her event. Luckily some friends of hers managed to make a costume from scratch the very day before, so she could go to the con."
"Barb, as someone who lives for cosplay, should know this and empathize with people who don't get their costumes done in time. However, she shows a complete disregard for the feelings of customers when she misses deadlines, blames clients for her mistakes, cops attitudes with people, and has her friends rail on customers who complain about Limebarb Studios on the Acen form and Cosplay.com." - orochiyamazaki

"I was f*cked around for money with practically no communication and no costume to prove for it. Took over A YEAR from the due date to get my refund. I think a f*cking braindead person has better business ethics than them."
"I can't stand the fact THEIR costumes are supposedly great quality, but what they DO delivery to customers is S*IT (my friend actually got her costume from her several months after the deadline)" - lostdecoy
